Urban Literature
Urban Literature is a public park designed around the Taichung Literacy Museum in Taichung City, Taiwan. The park covers 15287.57 square meters and links historical sites with open green space. Vintage walls of an old dormitory are preserved as part of a storytelling route. A curved wall at the entrance recalls the narrow streets and alleys of the past. A bamboo forest leads to a literary pathway that ends at a hundred-year-old tree, a poetry wall and a wide square. The design connects local history with daily community life.
Urban Literature Public Park by Hsu Fu Chu was identified as a creative example of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Urban Literature Public Park earned the Bronze A' Design Award in Landscape Planning and Garden Design in 2020. The A' Landscape Planning and Garden Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design competition that rewards excellent design of landscape designs, public parks, residential gardens, urban plazas, campus designs, green roofs, waterfront developments, Eco-Parks, botanical gardens and more.
