Hamacho
Hamacho is a hotel located in Nihonbashi Hamacho, Tokyo, Japan. The building has 15 floors and one basement level, and the structure is reinforced concrete. The hotel occupies the front half of the building, while apartments are placed at the back. There are 170 guest rooms in total. The ground floor holds a restaurant and a shop that are open to the public. Board-formed concrete and plaster express local craftsmanship. Planting is stacked across the facade to form a vertical landscape and to reduce energy use. Lightweight artificial soil limits the load and controls root growth.
