Flying
Fly is an urban art experience center located in Jiangyin, China, on the edge of the Yangtze River. The building is arranged around a landscape pool that brings river water into the setting. Cantilevered structures are used, so no column grid is visible from the outside. Two large blocks resemble a pair of wings above the water. The exterior is made of white and gray aluminum panels with beige marble. Turning and interwoven volumes soften the boundary between inner and outer space. A quiet path crosses the water and links the display areas. The center covers 21527 square feet.
Flying Exhibition Center by Kris Lin was identified as a grand illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Flying Exhibition Center was awarded the Golden A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2020. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design recognition program that rewards outstanding design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
