Oyane Saikaitoki Shop

Oyane Saikaitoki

Oyane Saikaitoki is a shop and gallery interior created for Saikai porcelain from Hasami Town in Nagasaki, Japan. The shop occupies a basement floor, so a new entrance was added to improve access. A large staircase and an elevator were placed within a wall of a storage space on the ground floor, and both guide visitors to the shop, which uses two levels. Porcelain is used for the signage, the wall saggers and the pendant lights. The indoor area is 140 square meters and the outdoor area is 1150 square meters.

Oyane Saikaitoki Shop by Kei Harada has been recognized as a creative example of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Oyane Saikaitoki Shop was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2020. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a highly prestigious international design prize which honors excellent design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
