Courtyard
Courtyard is a public space designed for the lobby and foyer of a residential development in central Shenyang, China. The space covers 600 square meters and forms the main route used by residents on the way home. The design concept is based on the three-entry home of traditional Chinese architecture, arranged as an outer court, an inner courtyard and an inner house. An installation named Bamboo Sound marks the lobby and gallery. A water promenade with a bridge, a pool, a gable, a tea room and plum blossom shapes the courtyard scene.
Courtyard Public Space by Kris Lin was selected as an innovative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Courtyard Public Space earned the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2020. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a highly prestigious international design recognition program which rewards superior design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
