Luxeh
Luxeh is a hotel interior located in the West Lake scenic area of Hangzhou, China. The design preserves the original architecture and the building elevation, as required for the protected site. Interior space and outdoor space are treated as two separate systems, so modern resort and commercial functions are placed within a building of historic style. Decayed wooden parts of the elevation are treated with a baking method used since the Song dynasty, which carbonizes the surface and keeps the material intact.
Luxeh Hotel by Ruidong Weng was highlighted as a grand illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Luxeh Hotel earned the Iron A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2021. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design recognition program that recognizes superior design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
