Kang Yuan
Kang Yuan is the lobby interior of a hotel in Tianmen, China. The space covers 2800 square meters and has a height of 3.5 meters. Wood, glass, metal and stone are the main materials. A screen wall replaces the usual reception desk, following traditional architectural form and creating visual depth through the borrowed landscape method of oriental gardens. A three-stage corner staircase links the two floors and offers changing views, so moving through the lobby resembles a garden walk. Warm light and a calm atmosphere support the transition from outdoors to indoors.
Kang Yuan Hotel by Liang Fang has been identified as a creative example of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Kang Yuan Hotel won the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2021. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design accolade that rewards superior design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
