Float Illumination

Float

Float is a table lamp based on the concept of slow design. The lamp uses magnetic levitation technology, so a small float turns above the base without touching it. The user switches the light on by spinning the float, and the light goes off when the rotation stops. The direction of rotation selects warm or cool light. Float is made of polypropylene, aluminum and white oak, and is produced in three sizes. The calm and steady motion is intended to help users slow down and concentrate while studying.

Float Illumination by Mingxi Li has been recognized as a creative representation of industrial design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Float Illumination received the Iron A' Design Award in Lighting Products and Fixtures Design in 2022. The A' Lighting Products and Fixtures Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design recognition program which recognizes exceptional design of chandeliers, pendant lights, wall sconces, table lamps, floor lamps, outdoor lights, recessed lights, track lights and more.
