Carefree
Carefree is a restaurant interior designed for traditional Sichuan cuisine in Chengdu, China. The space covers 1480 square meters and is divided into a refreshment area, a wine area and private rooms. Chinese carved fencing and dim lighting give the refreshment area a secluded feeling. The private rooms are kept plain so that attention stays on the food. A sculpture at the center of the moon gate combines the brand name with ink painting. A wall screen shows plants changing through the four seasons, and bamboo, marble and red brick are used throughout.
Carefree Restaurant by Xiaobing Yao was highlighted as an exceptional illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Carefree Restaurant was awarded the Golden A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2022. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design award that honors superior design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
