Luminous Island
Luminous Island is a light art exhibition held in Penghu, Taiwan. The theme is the ocean world of Penghu in autumn and winter. Thirteen light art installations are inspired by marine creatures. The lanterns combine fabric with small LED lights, instead of the usual iron and fabric structure. Fiber optics are used to shape a marine kingdom, and mechanical parts allow some lanterns to open and close. Corridors at the entrance and the exit form the feeling of entering and leaving an underwater world. Rust-proof and corrosion-resistant materials protect the lanterns near the sea.
Luminous Island Exhibition by COSQUARE STUDIO has been highlighted as a grand example of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Luminous Island Exhibition earned the Bronze A' Design Award in Lighting Projects and Light Art Design in 2024. The A' Lighting Projects and Light Art Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design accolade which rewards exceptional design of light art, light installations, street lighting, light sculptures, light projections, landscape lighting, art lighting, lighting projects and more.
