Yangguang City No.9
Yangguang City No.9 is a residential interior design located in Xi'an, China, with a total area of 501 square metres. The layout is organised to support efficient movement between functions within a compact floor plan. Curved wall shapes and embedded light strips recall the tail feathers of the phoenix, a bird of Chinese mythology, and add depth to the rooms. Natural shell terrazzo and common red bricks lower material cost and help balance indoor humidity in a dry climate. Two side tables are made from a saw blade and from off-cut wood.
Yangguang City No.9 Residential House by Saiwen Liu has been recognized as an outstanding illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Yangguang City No.9 Residential House was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2024. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design recognition program that celebrates excellent design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
