Tranquility
Tranquility is a residential interior design for a 290 square meter flat floor home with four bedrooms in Tianjin, China. The original floor plan was kept, while some non load bearing walls in the corridors and the master bedroom were removed to improve circulation. Gray and white cold tones dominate, combined with black aluminum panels, walnut veneer with a carved pattern, and art boards. A soft curved surface conceals a concrete load bearing wall and extends to the ceiling. One bedroom near the entrance was converted into a room for pets.
Tranquility Interior Design by Jianguo Wu has been recognized as an innovative example of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Tranquility Interior Design received the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2025. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design accolade that rewards outstanding design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
