Learning Landscape
Learning Landscape is a primary school in Shenzhen, China. The school covers 20,535 square meters and replaces the rigid classroom and corridor layout with connected indoor and outdoor spaces. Three elements inspired by nature, named the Mountain, the Valley and the Beach, organize the terraced levels. Students move freely between classrooms, covered areas, green roofs and open interstitial spaces. Planting across the whole site gives shade and reduces heat. The design supports lessons, group work, play and quiet study.
Learning Landscape Primary School by Pao People's Architecture Office has been featured as a creative representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Learning Landscape Primary School was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2026. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design recognition program which rewards exceptional design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
