U Cube
U Cube is a landscape renovation of a small scale street in Shanghai, China, completed in 2018. The design follows a philosophy of removing complexity and keeping simplicity. Minimal elements, futuristic materials and refined details turn the street into a practical office landscape. The original lane was narrow and dark, so the layout was based on the principle of stretching space. A fine doorplate and an iconic entrance divide the office area from the residential area. Vehicle access is controlled to provide a quiet and independent working environment.
U Cube Landscape Renovation by Shanghai Lacime Design Co. Ltd. has been selected as a creative representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. U Cube Landscape Renovation earned the Bronze A' Design Award in Landscape Planning and Garden Design in 2020. The A' Landscape Planning and Garden Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design competition that honors excellent design of landscape designs, public parks, residential gardens, urban plazas, campus designs, green roofs, waterfront developments, Eco-Parks, botanical gardens and more.
