Foundry Commercial

Foundry

Foundry is a mixed-use commercial building designed for a community near a downtown area. The exterior combines original historic brick with a metal frame glass greenhouse of geometric shapes. The interior includes a multi-purpose event hall, restaurants, coffee shops, meeting rooms and an art space. Reused and recycled materials are applied, including reclaimed wood, bricks and copper plates on the facades. Interior finishes include stucco, reused metal panels, wood floors and local interlocking stone. The design repurposes an established property and links past and present.

Foundry Commercial by Mohamed Shabana was identified as an outstanding example of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Foundry Commercial earned the Iron A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2020. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design prize that rewards superior design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
