Chinese Quadrangle
Chinese Quadrangle is a hotel built in the form of a traditional Chinese courtyard house in Luoyang. The project covers 5460 square meters and was completed in 2019. A brick screen wall marks the entrance, followed by heads shaped as the twelve Chinese zodiac signs. The arrayed brick walls are made entirely of grey recycled bricks. The second inner courtyard holds guest rooms and public facilities, reached through a winding veranda, and the third inner courtyard contains the reception hall. Layered spaces bring the landscape into the courtyard.
Chinese Quadrangle Hotel by Zhang ZhaoYong was highlighted as a grand representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Chinese Quadrangle Hotel won the Silver A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2020. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design competition which rewards exceptional design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
