83 Bands
83 Bands is a bar interior in Shanghai that serves cocktails and champagne. The design covers 300 square meters and follows a route from the porch to the front hall, then to the atrium and the back garden. Lighting is the main element. Each fixture uses an RGB digital dimming lamp with a very wide color range, and preset programming recreates the warm tones of sunset and a slow breathing effect. Colors can be adjusted when the bar is leased for other events. The main materials are cement, stainless steel, Changhong glass, terrazzo, mirror and sound-absorbing plywood.
83 Bands Bar by Rui Yang was selected as a creative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. 83 Bands Bar was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2020. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design competition which celebrates outstanding design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
