Symphonic Movement
Undulating Symphonic Movement is a residential lobby interior in Taipei, Taiwan, covering 82.5 square meters. The design is inspired by music. A wave-like wooden ceiling was curved and formed on site, and a central pendant light of brass tubes recalls organ pipes. Custom doors of 10 feet in height are woven from brass, wood-grained copper sheeting, mirror and clear glass. A floor-to-ceiling window with iron slats of varying height frames a garden view. Teak, marble and chiseled granite complete the calm space.
Symphonic Movement Public Space by Ya-Ching Yu has been selected as an innovative representation of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Symphonic Movement Public Space received the Iron A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2020. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design competition that honors outstanding design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
